Cuti cuti 2008

In 2008, we didn't do a lot of travelling because the holidays were filled with Hafiz's extra classes. The year end trip to Indonesia had to be postphoned due to the unstable condition there. We went to Kelantan & Terengganu instead. So this is the summary of the few places that we went last year.
Eye on Melaka

This is one of the night outings we had we the boys. We tried the mini eye on Melaka and later the boys tried a few games there.
Sungai Udang Tropical Fruit farm
MOZAC's family day 2008 was held here on 3rd of May 2008.There were many activities such as colouring competition for the kids, sukaneka for the families and the kids had the chance to see a few animals in the farm there.
Ulu Bendul
We went for a picnic here. There are so much changes since I last came during my school years. The boys had the chance to swim in the stream. Later we checked out the Taman Ular there. It was sad to learn that many of the snakes have died due to mismanagement esp the 2 anancondas.
Perigi Hang Tuah
Situated in Duyong, the boys had never been there, so one weekend when my parents came we took them around Melaka to see the well and also to Masjid Kg Hilir, one of the oldest mosques here
Puteri Resort
The weekend stay at Puteri Resort was to unwind although the place was just a few km from home. My husband was one of the presentors for a course there so the kids and I decided to stay in as well. The kids enjoyed the pool.
Menara Taming Sari
Again one of the night outings to try out the latest attraction in Melaka.
Port Dickson
We stayed at Hotel Sri Malaysia and the boys enjoyed the beach and of course the pool there plus the free Wifi service there. The boys had the chance to learn about Port Dickson and Lukut from the old pictures and information at the hotel lobby
Kelantan & Terengganu
Despite the monsoon and the flood, we risked the trip since all arrangements had been made. From Taiping, we took the eastwest highway passing Tasik Banding - the biggest man- made lake in Malaysia. The boys enjoyed the tourist attraction spots while the mom enjoyed the shopping!!!

Weekend Retreat

For weekend retreat last month we opted to bring the kids to Tiara Beach Resort...AGAIN??. This is probably our third time there. This time we rented a two- room apartment. After cooking nasi lemak and fried burgers and nuggets, we pushed off to PD....this time not stopping at my mom's place because my parents were in Bukit Tinggi with my younger sister. The boys went straight to the pool in the afternoon. At night we had some seafood and Thai food. The next morning, while the boys went swimming, i tried out a new attraction there - the fish spa.It was VERY ticklish at first but after a few minutes, it was quite fun and relaxing to see and feel the small fishes nibbled at my feet.It was a fun outing although the place was packed with people. On the way back to Air Keroh, we stopped at a friend's house in Alor Gajah for a durian treat. This year we have been very fortunate to have been given and invited to many durian treats...alhamdulillah. Oh yes, on the way back, we found a stall selling 'lempeng kelapa' and 'sambal' somewhere near Padang Kambing in Alor Gajah. 'Lempeng kelapa', 'sambal' and coffee are just heavenly because it has been quite some time since we last ate 'lempeng kelapa'. What a weekend and the next week after that was another durian treat, this time in Lendu.

Best Gift Ever

I really appreciate this song....so relaxing and so loving.... this is one of best songs i ever heard....i dedicate this song to my loving husband and my four boys who have given me the best gift ever....happiness

Jim Brickman-The Gift - More amazing videos are a click away

THE GIFT...

Winter snow is falling down
Children laughing all around
Lights are turning on Like a fairy tale come true
Sitting by the fire we made
You're the answer when I prayed I would find someone
And baby I found you

Chorus:

All I want is to hold you forever
All I need is you more every day
You saved my heart From being broken apart
You gave your love away
And I'm thankful every day For the gift
Watching as you softly sleep
What I'd give if I could keep
Just this moment If only time stood still
But the colors fade away And the years will make us grey
But baby in my eyes You'll still be beautiful (chorus) (piano solo)

Chorus:

All I want is to hold you forever
All I need is you more every day
You saved my heart From being broken apart
You gave your love away
I can't find the words to say
That I'm thankful everyday For the gift

Taman Negara - 22 - 24th June 2007

This trip was with the KPM students. We went along with the students and the director's family. The drive to Taman Negara was fun as the kids got to see many 'Orang Asli Villages with weird names. Needless to say that the trip was fun. The first day was spent at the chalet while the students pitched their tents. That night itself, we had the first activity which was the night walk. With only 2 torches, we walked through the jungle to see the night's creature(nocturnal animals) upclose, the jungle sounds and the glowing flower plant which was magnificient. The next day was a real test as we climbed Bukit Terisik. I was thankful because the students were there- Hazim n the 3 boys were very fast thet we couldn't keep up with them. They were the first 10 people who reached the summit while we were the last 10.The climb up the long canopy walk was also fun though I was quite worry because the boys had to walk and climb up alone. The excitement continued on the second day with the boat rides along the many rapids of Sungai Pahang. The boats fight as fun and we were all wet when we reached the place for a picnic and swim. The 2 families were then brought for a special treat to one of the orang asli's villages. We had the 'menyumpit' experience and see the shy orang asli. All in all the National Park trip was awesome!!!!!!

Mother's Day at Holiday Inn

For Mother's Day this year, dear hubby and the boys treated me lunch at a brand new hotel in town at Banda Hilir - the Holiday Inn. Despite the early booking, the place was packed with people. We had lunch outside at the terrace enjoying the view of the Straits of Melaka and the nice breeze. Food was nice and the kids enjoyed the spread of dessert there. After that we checked out the pier/jetty there. Later, we went to Dataran Pahlawan to buy gifts for teacher's day.

Bidara Puteri Beach Resort, Pantai Puteri

We decided to spend a night by the beach and not wanting to wonder too far we chose Bidara Puteri Beach Resort at Pantai Puteri Tanjung Kling to relax & recuperate after some busy weeks. The day was spent relaxing on the beach enjoying the view and the breeze.Of course the boys had to try out the pool. Hazim is becoming more bolder in water. He managed to get a few strokes but can't really swim yet. Hafiz, Angah & Hanif used the opportunity to polish their swimming skills.Due to lack of practice, Hafiz & Angah couldn't even finish a lap.

KPM Family Day

On 14th April 2009, my husband's college organised a family day at Tanjung Bidara. Since it's near my hometown and my husband was the coordinator, we had to leave early. It was drizzling all the way to Tanjung Bidara. Infact, it started to rain quite heavily while we were having breakfast.A plate of nasi lemak and hot steamy coffee by the sea just lulled you to sleep... how we wish we could crawl back under the sheets at the resort. The day began with Hazim won the first game. Being the eldest in the group, he outsmart the rest by getting the most sweets. While the smaller ones picking up the sweets one by one, he swept the sweets aside..it wa quite hilarious. The rain stopped and enabled us to do the Poco poco...darn I still don't quite get the steps yet.Hafiz and Angah lost the first game. Then Hanif & Hazim tried desperately to blow the balloon but didn't manage to pop it...Hanif's balloon just kept expanding. The boys were unstoppable after that. Angah won the musical chair... come to think about it,who could pushed him aside? Then my boys almost effortlessly won the pingpong ball in the spoon event.Hanif held the hoola the longest despite numerous failures at practice time.He also won the coloring contest for his age category.Unlike our boys,my hubby and I lost in the 2 events we took part. Then the boys had a blast transforming me into a mummy. After lunch was the prize giving ceremony and the lucky draw...and what a day, our family won the first prize for the lucky draw. Then we headed to my mom's place for the weekend. It was a good weekend spent with loved ones

Karnival Pendidikan

Can't really remember when exactly it was held but probably sometime in April. Since it's so near, we brought the kids to the karnival....probably missed the colouring contest...I was so tired after French week that I lost track of a lot of things.Emmm...now I remember, it was exactly a week after we hosted the Fench Week.
The kids had fun tying out things at the Astronout booth. It was a nice weekend spent with family members... as i was so occupied with the French Week 2 months before that

Kem Lambaian Danau

Some time at the end February, we sent our two elder boys to join a leadership & survival camp organised by KPM. It was held at Kem Lambaian Danau, Jasin on 27 February 2009. They spent 2 days and a night there. Hafiz and Angah joined the group for an obstacle run where there had to do many adventurous activities. The last one that really tested them was the 'cooperation raft' activity where they had to row their 'human raft' together across the lake. There was no rope but only their legs to connect the 'raft' together. They had to paddle using only their hands. It was tiring but I think they had fun. Our two smaller ones followed using a boat on the last day and of course they all had to take a dip in the lake after the activity was over.

Symphony Concerto

After practising for over 3 months since the December holiday, the boys and girls performed the concert at Panggung Seri Taman Budaya on 21 March 2009. The concert started at 7.30. I think all the Malay parents missed the first two performances as it was Maghrib time. Luckily, we didn't miss any of Hanif's performances. After the piano duet, he sang in the choir - Mongolian song - Ji Xiang san Bao. It was so dark that no pictures could be taken. I think the lighting was really bad the entire concert. The pianists were made not to face the audience...what a bummer!!!.The other two choir songs sung by Hanif and the group were I Will Follow Him and the finale song Sha la la la.It was a good chance for him to be able to perform, hopefully, it does him good. Bravo Hanif.

Perkampungan Ikan Bakar Terapung, Serkam, Melaka

On dear hubby's birthday, we went to Perkampungan Ikan Bakar Terapung, Serkam. We decided to go to this place rather than the usual eating place like the hotel, Pizza Hut or other fastfood outlets. It's the kids first time there. We purposely chose a stall which did not have many customers. It gave us the privacy and the owner had only us to entertaine. The boys had a good time looking at the fishes displayed. Hanif and Hazim were so fascinated with stingrays that they had lots of questions. They had the chance to touch and learned about stingrays and other fishes. The "Pakcik" was kind enough to answer their endless questions. Dinner was nice and we enjoyed the night out with the kids.

A day with Malaysia's First Angkasawan

14th February 2009 created another history when our very own 'angkasawan' came to MOZAC. I managed to bring the kids to school to see him up close. All three had the chance to shake hands and had a signed poster each from Dr. SMS except for Hazim who was as usual in his own world. It was a good chance for the kids to listen to his motivational speech and of course to see him in person. The kids enjoyed the day and I'm sure it's aonce in a lifetime experience for them. I hope they are inspired and hopefully one day be the nation's pride like Dr SMS.

Family Gathering - TNB Resort PD

This Chinese New Year Break we went to PD again but this time it was for a family gathering of my husband's side. Yong and Kak Nyah planned this last year and since it was a long break, everybody decided to have it in PD. So 4 families drove down from the North this time to meet us down south. Nini who's on holiday joined us with her husband since she had to fly back to UAE on Monday. It was indeed a fun time gathering with family members. There were around 40 of us and one could imagine the noise! The moms took care of the food while the dads looked after the kids. The teenage boys and girls did their own stuff like fishing n camping on the beach while the younger ones enjoyed their time at the swimming pool n game room. The first night, there was a karaoke session. The next day was spent on the beach swimming, riding jet ski n banana boat - all expenses paid by Nini. The last night, we exchanged gifts and we bid goodbyes the day after. Overall, it was a fun weekend for the kids to enjoy their time together with their cousins.

Night Outings

This school holiday, we managed to bring the kids to a new landmark in Melaka - The Tamingsari Tower. The rotating tower is named after the famous keris of Hang Tuah, Melaka legendary warrior. The 7 minutes ride was quite enjoyable as we got to see Melaka at night.I guess a night ride is better that the day ride as we got to see the lights as well. Then we brought the kids back to Eye on Melaka. This is our second visit there, mainly to take pictures at different and nicer angles. On the first visit, the Kids got the chance to try all the rides there. We are yet to take the river cruise, maybe on other night outing. We also brought the kids to see the Aliens Show at MITC. The kids had a wonderful time, tryng out things and reading about aliens. Too bad taking pictures is not allowed inside so there're only photos at the entrance.I hope my boys had fun this holiday as school is opening in two weeks time.

Terengganu: 4 & 5th December 2008

On the second day, we visited Islamic Edutainment Park ( Taman Tamadun Islam) where the famous crystal mosque is located. The architechture is superb and we had the opportunity to talk to a few students who were attending a tahfiz course ( a course conducted during the school holidays for students ) I think it is a very good programme and I think this should be followed by other mosques at other states as well. Then we visited the park where there are 21 replicas of famous islamic landmarks from all around the world are situated. We also had the chance to board the unique town bus of Terengganu. The best part was the service is free! Then we visited our relatives and the next day was the long journey back to Melaka. We had been blessed with good weather despite the monsoon season and the flood. We were lucky not to 'stumble' upon any bad weather or even flood despite passing through some of the badly affected places like Kampong Tok Jiring. A short stop at Kemaman to buy 'kerepok lekor ' and the chance to eat 'Sata' was also an unforgetable memory to cherish. We arrived at Melaka around 10 pm and we thank god for the save journey.

Kelantan & Terengganu: 3 Dec 2008

Third day - 3rd December 2008

In the morning, I went to Pasar MPKB to find silk batiks and matching scarfs for my sisters. It was difficult as there were so many to choose from. Finally, I managed to make up my mind and bought 2 for my sisters. My dear hubby bought me one that he likes so much. Thank you love! After another round of headache searhing for matching scarfs, we headed back to the apartment and checked out. The long journey to Terengganu began with many stops. One of them at Bandar Permaisuri for lunch, which I thought was atotal ripped off. We reached Kuala Terengganu around 3 pm and checked in.Since the room is facing Dataran Syahbandar, we decided to check the place out. We just in time for the Monsoon Cup and the kids got to see Hattan rehearsing for the concert. At night brought the kids to see the Monsoon Cup concert by the AF stars, Hattan and Amy Search.

Kelantan Darul Naim: 1-3 Dec 2008

Second Day - 2nd December 2008

From the 12th floor, we had a very clear view of Kelantan River. It had indeed risen and that made me quite worry but the weather was bright and sunny. Since Rantau Panjang was closed to all vehicles, we decided to go to Pengkalan Kubor( duty free area) after a light breakfast.By the way the kids felt at home at the 3 rooms apartment. It was spacious and the view was nice.I bought some things for my sisters and mom since I had done my shopping less than a month ago. Hafiz and Angah got their Manchester United and Chelsea t - shirts and Hazim got another Ben 10 toy. On the way back, we stopped at one of the Buddist temples and the kids got to see a huge statue of Buddha and monks. We headed back to Kota Bharu as it started drizzling. We managed to see houses and village affected in the flood but the road was passable. After a nice lunch of Nasi Kukus Ayam at Jalan Pin Pong, we visited Istana Jahar, Istana Balai Besar, Bank Pitih and of course Pasar Siti Khadijah where my hubby bought a songket samping for himself. At night,we had lunch at Wakaf Che Yeh but decided not to go to the nighr market as the kids would be bored so we drove around Kota Bharu instead.

Kelantan Darul Naim: 1-3 Dec 2008

First Day - 1st December 2008

We decided to go ahead with the plan to Kelantan although the flood was getting worst. We took the East - West Highway passing by Grik - the town and the road had improved tremendously since I last visited it more than 10 years ago, making the trip much more enjoyable. We were awed by the spectacular view of the man made lake - Tasik Banding. Angah was feeling under the weather but Hanif was already up and about considering he had a fever afew days before. When we entered Kelantan via Jeli, the worst hit area, it started raining and it was so foggy that I was reminded of San Francisco during Fall season. In fact, it continued to rain the whole night. We decided to just stay in the apartment after dinner. The plan to Wakaf Che Yeh had to be cancelled but we got the much needed rest after such a long journey.

Port Dickson: 25-28 November 2008

BubbleShare: Share photos - Play some Online Games.

The stay at Seri Malaysia Port Dickson was more a relaxing trip for me and the kids especially since we did nothing but lazying around. The kids enjoyed swimming at the swimming pool every morning and I got the chance to catch up on reading and enjoying the sun. In the afternoon, we strolled down the beach. Hanif was so excited to find the many shells on the beach while Hafiz, Angah and Haziq got down and dirty. We slept late, enjoyed the food and each others' company while my husband was busy coordinating a programme there.Hafiz and Angah got the chance to learn about Port Dickson by reading the history of it at the hotel's lobby. We also watched the sun went down at Telok Kemang on the last night there.

Hi and welcome

We are an average family who enjoy travelling very much. My husband and I are both educators and we have been blessed with 4 active and outgoing sons. I have started blogging this year and still am learning about a lot of things. It is hoped that this will be a start for our family to start blogging. I have taught the boys to keep their own record of the places that we have visited. Being boys writing is something that they don't really enjoy. By having their own blogs, I hope they will start penning down their experiences and thoughts.
